Imagine you are in the personal care aisle or a pharmacy. You are about to buy an expensive face cream or vitamin supplement. You pick up the box, slightly lift the lid... If that lid opens without any resistance, I know that nagging doubt very well: "Did someone else open and try this product before?"
This doubt is a poison that instantly kills the purchasing decision. Especially for products that come into contact with the skin or are ingested orally, hygiene is not a luxury, but a necessity.
This is where we see that packaging is not just a protective measure, but also a means of communication. That small cosmetic security seal affixed to the lid of the box silently whispers to your customer: "Rest assured, you are the first person to open this lid since it left the factory."

What is Tamper Evident?
This concept, known as "Tamper Evident" in global literature, is the technology that makes it visibly clear whether a product's packaging integrity has been compromised. In our industry, we usually call this the "be the first to open it" label.
These labels are affixed between the box lid and the body. When the customer wants to open the product, they must tear, cut, or deform this label. When this action occurs, the product's "virginity" is compromised, and there is no turning back.
Why a Security Label Instead of Standard Tape?
I see some manufacturers using standard clear round tapes to cut costs. However, this is a big mistake. Standard tapes can be carefully removed and reapplied without the customer noticing.
However, the special hygiene labels and VOID-based solutions we produce at Otiket leave a trace on the packaging or disintegrate when removed. This guarantees the product's hygiene.
For Which Products is it Essential to Use?
For every product that directly affects consumer health, these labels enhance brand prestige:
- Dermo-Cosmetic Products: Face creams, serums, lotions.
- Makeup Products: Lipsticks, mascaras (especially at the tube and box joints).
- Dietary Supplements: Vitamin boxes, syrup bottles.
- Medical Products: All medical devices that must remain sterile.

Brand Perception in the Eyes of the Consumer
As a printing and label manufacturer, I personally observe the impact on my customers' sales. The table below summarizes the difference in customer perception between brands that use security labels and those that don't:
| Criterion | Unlabeled Product | Security-Labeled Product |
|---|---|---|
| Hygiene Perception | Suspicious ("Someone might have tried it") | Full Trust ("Sterile and clean") |
| Brand Quality | Standard / Careless | Premium / Meticulous |
| Return Rate | High (Trust issue) | Low |
