A security hologram label has only one job: Not to be removed from where it is affixed without authorization.
If the label can be easily removed from the surface it is applied to (e.g., a cream jar) with a fingertip, leaving no trace, it does not provide security; it is merely decorative.
The strong adhesive hologram labels we produce at Otiket use "Aggressive Adhesive" technology in accordance with industrial standards. So, how does this adhesive perform on different surfaces? Let's take a look.

1. Cardboard and Paper Boxes (Cosmetics / Pharmaceuticals)
Cardboard boxes are the most common application area for hologram labels. Cardboard has a fibrous and absorbent structure.
- Performance: Excellent (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐)
- Result: If you apply a hologram to the lid of a cardboard box, the adhesive penetrates the fibers of the cardboard. When you try to remove it, not only is the hologram damaged, but the box itself also tears (Fiber Tear). This is the highest level of security proof.
2. Glass Bottles and Jars (Food / Beverages)
Glass is a smooth and high-energy surface, making it an excellent base for adhesive spreading.
- Performance: Very High (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐)
- Important Note: The glass surface must be dry and moisture-free. A label will not adhere to a bottle that has just been taken out of the refrigerator and has condensation (water droplets) on it. When applied to a dry surface, it integrates with the glass.
3. Plastic Surfaces (PET / PP / PVC)
Plastic caps or shampoo bottles have slightly "slicker" surfaces. Also, some plastics can be "Low Surface Energy."
- Performance: High (⭐⭐⭐⭐)
- Tip: For the hologram to reach its full strength on plastic surfaces, a "Curing Time" (for the adhesive to fully set) is required. If you wait 24 hours after application, it becomes impossible to remove.
4. Metal Surfaces (Electronics / Industry)
Computer cases, engine parts, or aluminum foil lids...
- Performance: Excellent (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐)
- Caution: The metal surface must be free of oil (grease) or dust. On clean metal surfaces, hologram labels can last for years.
Surface Performance Table
Which cardboard box label or bottle seal should you choose?
| Surface Type | Adhesive Strength | Removal Effect (VOID) |
|---|---|---|
| Cardboard / Paper | Very Strong | Box Tears + VOID Residue |
| Glass | Very Strong | Clear VOID Residue Remains |
| Plastic (Rigid) | Strong | VOID Residue Remains |
| Metal | Very Strong | Clear VOID Residue Remains |
| Fabric / Textile | Weak | Not Recommended (May fall off) |

Golden Rule for Application: "Clean, Apply, Wait"
To maximize your hologram label's performance to 100%, follow these 3 steps:
- Clean: The surface must be free of dust, oil, or moisture.
- Apply and Press: After applying the label, press down with your finger to activate the adhesive.
- Wait: For the security feature (VOID residue) to work fully, it is ideal for the label to cure at room temperature for 24 hours. If you try to remove it immediately after application, it may not leave a trace.
Conclusion: The Right Label for the Right Surface
Whatever your product, there is always a hologram solution to protect it. Except for textiles and very rough surfaces, hologram labels are the most reliable sealing method.
