What is a Variable Coded Roll Label?

Otiket Variable Coded Roll Label is a special printing service where, unlike standard identical barcodes, every label on the roll carries a different QR code or code. You don't need a barcode printer, ribbons or database software.

Send us your Excel list (product links, codes, serial numbers and so on); we turn each line into a QR code or barcode on our industrial machines, print it onto your labels and ship them to you as ready-to-apply rolls.

How It Works

  1. Order: choose the label size and material (coated paper or PP).
  2. Send your data: after ordering, send us the variable data (Excel/CSV) to be printed.
  3. Production: your data is processed automatically: code A on label 1, code B on label 2, and so on.
  4. Delivery: your labels arrive wound on rolls, ready to use.

Technical Specifications

  • Print type: variable data printing (VDP).
  • Supported codes: QR code, DataMatrix, Code 128, EAN-13, serial numbers and barcodes.
  • Readability: high-resolution print, readable by phones and scanners.
  • Data security: your data is deleted after printing and never shared with third parties.

Q&A

In what format should I send the list?
You just need to send your data in Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) or CSV format. Having the data listed one below the other in a single column (e.g., Column A) speeds up the process.
What is the size of the QR codes?
The size of the QR code varies depending on the amount of data (number of characters) you embed and your label size. However, for healthy readability, we ensure that the QR code is printed at a minimum size of 15mm x 15mm.
Do you only print sequential numbers?
No. We can print sequential numbers like 1-2-3, complex passwords (A7x9b...), or website links (https://...), whatever you prefer. Whatever is written in your list will be processed onto the label.
Do you use paper or plastic labels?
As standard, we use "Coated Labels" (Paper) for economic reasons. However, upon request, we can also print variable data on water-resistant "Opaque PP" or non-tear "Silver Matt" labels. You can make your choice from the options.
