Walking along supermarket shelves, some products seem to have no label at all. The logo and information look as if they were printed directly onto the glass. In packaging we call this the "no-label look".
The hero behind this premium look is the clear label.
If the color, texture or contents of your product are attractive enough to win customers, covering them with a paper label is a shame. Let's look at clear roll labels, which can turn your product into a work of art.

What Is a Clear Label?
A clear label is a see-through plastic label made of polypropylene (PP). Like opaque labels, it is highly resistant to water, moisture and tearing. The big difference is that it visually blends into the surface.
On glass, clear plastic (PET) or colored bottles, the edges of the label disappear. Only your design remains.
CMYK Printing and the "Stained Glass" Effect: The Golden Rule
Printing on clear labels works differently from printing on white paper. The CMYK inks we use are translucent.
Think of stained glass: just as sunlight passes through it, the color of your product shows through the print on a clear label. It's a beautiful effect, but keep these points in mind:
1. Choose Dark Colors
Strong colors like black, navy and deep red give the best results. They have the most coverage and read clearly on any bottle.
2. Avoid Light Colors
Yellow, light pink and pastels can look faint on a clear base. If you want to use them, the bottle or product underneath should be white or very light. Alternatively, a white underprint makes any color pop; you can add it in our Pro Label section.

Which Products Is It Ideal For?
CMYK-printed clear roll labels work beautifully in these cases:
- White bottles and boxes: on a white base every color (including light ones) looks vivid, as if printed on white paper, but the label edges are invisible.
- Light-colored liquids: in clear bottles of water, lemonade, cologne or white soap, black or dark designs look sleek and minimal.
Application Tips: No Bubbles
The only drawback of clear labels is that they show application mistakes (fingerprints, air bubbles). For a flawless no-label look:
- Use a labeling machine where possible.
- If applying by hand, avoid touching the adhesive side.
- Make sure the surface is dust-free and dry.

Conclusion: Add Transparency to Your Brand
If you want simplicity, elegance and a modern touch, clear PP labels are your strongest tool. Minimalist black-printed designs in particular lift your brand into the luxury segment. For hand application in smaller quantities, see clear sheet labels.
